Hey everyone,I'm writing this as we close out the year, and I wanted to take a moment to just... talk. No feature announcements, no technical updates. Just some thoughts as we head into 2026.Looking BackWhen I started building TinkerAtlas, I had this idea that makers deserved their own space. Not a corner of someone else's platform. Not a subreddit we don't control. Not a Discord server that disappears when the owner gets bored. Something real. Something ours. That idea is now a platform with 326 of you on it.I still can't quite believe that sometimes. Real people signed up. Real people posted their projects. Real people helped each other troubleshoot prints and shared their wins and showed up day after day to be part of this thing we're building together. You didn't have to do that. The internet has no shortage of places to post. You chose here. That means something to me.The HighlightsWe ran our first real contest this year. Print the Holidays brought in over $1,300 in prizes (Including the TinkerAtlas+ accounts) from sponsors who believed in what we're doing. LDO Motors, Phaetus, E3D, Siraya Tech. Real companies putting real products behind a community that barely existed a few months ago.The entries were incredible. Watching people create holiday prints and share them with each other reminded me exactly why I started this. Not the code, not the infrastructure, not the business side. The making. The sharing. The community showing up for each other. We launched TinkerAtlas+ (formerly Supporter subscriptions) with actual features that give back to members. Extended posts, more images, XP boosts, analytics, streak protection. Real value, not just a badge and a thank you.We built maintenance trackers, daily challenges, started on a events calendar with stream detection, project documentation tools, and probably a hundred smaller things I've already forgotten about because I was immediately working on the next thing. I've also cleaned up the bug reports list, in other words all reported bugs have been fixed, but I do expect both new and old ones to show up again as I continue to work on it, so keep on reporting! :DAnd through all of it, you kept posting. You kept engaging. You kept making this place feel like somewhere worth being. The Honest PartI've been working on TinkerAtlas for much more than full time for over six months now. Early mornings, late nights, weekends. It's consumed most of my waking hours and I regret exactly none of it.But I should be honest with you, because that's always been my approach here.I don't take income from TinkerAtlas. The support that comes in goes to servers, database hosting, email systems, development tools, and if we get more than that I put it towards buying gear to make better and more content for you. The things that keep the platform running and improving. There's nothing left over, and most months I'm watching the numbers hoping we hit our targets. My personal finances are very limited. When support falls short, there's no cushion to absorb it anymore. That's not a guilt trip. It's just the reality of building something like this as one person without outside funding. The more stable our monthly support becomes, the more I can focus on building rather than worrying and trying to work out how to make sure we reach what's needed. The more features I can ship. The more time I can spend talking with potential sponsors and partners. The more TinkerAtlas can become what I know it can be.And to everyone that has supported in any way since we started, I'm deeply grateful that you believe in the community we're building here. How You Can HelpIf TinkerAtlas has meant something to you this year, here's how you can help it keep going:PayPal is available here: https://paypal.me/makerviking, on the support page for direct one-time contributions with no account needed on our end or via the widget below this article. TinkerAtlas+ at tinkeratlas.com/pricing gives you extended posts, more images, XP boosts, analytics, and more for $9.99/month or $99/year. It's the most direct way to support ongoing development while getting real features in return.Ko-fi at ko-fi.com/makerviking works for both recurring monthly support and one-time contributions. Whatever fits your situation. And if none of those work right now, that's okay too. Share your projects. Invite a maker friend. Report bugs when you find them. Stay active. An engaged community is valuable in ways that don't show up on a balance sheet.Looking ForwardI have plans for 2025. Features I want to build. Partnerships I want to pursue. Growth I want to see. But more than any of that, I just want to keep showing up for this community the way you've shown up for me.Thank you for being here. Thank you for making things and sharing them. Thank you for believing that a dedicated space for makers is worth having. Here's to another year of building, together.Happy New Year.Thomas (MakerViking)
