So I Wrote a Book Series. With 3D Printing in It. Because of Course I Did.
Some of you know me as the guy building TinkerAtlas. Others know me from the 3D printing, the designs, the streams. But there's something I've been working on quietly for a while now, and it's time to talk about it.
I write science fiction.
The Vagrant Suns is a series about flawed, stubborn people getting sent into situations nobody else wants to touch, and figuring it out anyway. It's military sci-fi with a strong comedic voice — the kind of humor that comes from characters who cope with the impossible by being relentlessly, inconveniently themselves. Think banter that masks the thing nobody wants to say out loud. Think a prosthetic hand named Lefty and a 3D printer named Gertrude and synthesized food that tastes like someone described flavor to a machine that had never experienced it and the machine did its best.
And yes — 3D printing is woven into the world. Because when I sat down to build a universe, I couldn't leave out the technology that changed how I think about making things. There are some other surprises baked in too, but I'll let you discover those yourself.
The Free Prequel: "Send the Humans"
The first entry in the series is already out — and it's completely free. "Send the Humans" is a novella-length prequel, around 18,000 words, that drops you straight into the squad, the voice, and the universe. You'll know within the first chapter whether this is your kind of story. Specifically, you'll know by the time someone explains that a crocodile gives people something to talk about, but a plasma conduit gives people a safety briefing.

I'm publishing under the pen name T.V. Haugen through my own imprint, Munin Publishing — named after one of Odin's ravens, the one that represents memory. Felt right.
Coming Soon: Book 1 — "Touch Nothing"
The first full book in the series, "Touch Nothing", is on its way. This one's a proper novel — over 110,000 words — and it picks up the momentum from the prequel and runs with it. Same squad. Higher stakes. A planet that has opinions about being surveyed.
I'll share more details as the release gets closer.

TinkerAtlas is a community of makers. People who build things, figure things out, and put stuff into the world. Writing a book — writing a whole series — is just making with different tools. Same stubbornness. Same 0300 sessions where the mind won't stop and the hands need something to do.
